During our stay in Ecuador, we returned a few times to an apartment complex located between Salinas and La Libertad—the city with a grand market where US$5 could fill 2 bags with fresh produce or various supplies. La Libertad’s port is indicative of the huge oil industry with tankers arriving/departing in great numbers. Fishing is another big industry, noting the variety of vessels on the sea from large fleets to one-man rowboats!
Ballenita, a small village slightly north of La Libertad.
